My 7 day wrol food experiment.

I will spend the next 7 days starting on Jan 3 only eating out of my food reserve. I will count calories and only eat 2200 calories not counting eggs or squirrels. Iam trying to determine if I can make it daily on 2200 calories with manuel labor. Check back daily in the evening for updates on the comment section.

    You should just calculate how much food you need by using BMI or basil metabolic rate. Then you chould add things like spliting wood and? things to the BMI and see how many calories you need to eat.

    I am eager to see how this turns out. I imagine you will weigh yourself before and after to see if you maintain your weight? Please? let us know how you like what you are eating, how you feel as in if you are abnormally tired which can happen when you are not consuming enough calories. I store vitamins. I would like to know if you are taking a daily vitamin as well.

    Oh I get it.. Well we probably all like that? to some degree as far as having the good stuff… frankly I do believe we will all be healthier when we get down to the long term stuff.. but it is going to take some serious getting use to.. But still a big blessing! God Bless!

    YEs spices….WOw I need to slow down and not do 3 things at one time. I have 2 years supply of food but only 1 year of regular eating then it will be just the basics no frills at all. I was seeing how it would be just eating very simple food with nothing to make it taste better. I have? since increase my spices to last longer.

    They where unwilling to do it without any species …..We eat from our? stored food everyday but we add species and other goodies to it.

    Yes? canned soup and tuna are excellent items to store and rotate into your pantry. Tuna for one stores along time. Any type of flavoring will be very helpful.

    I’m wondering if canned soups or perhaps even tuna would be wise to get in reference to canned goods. Im not an expert on what’s non-perishable and I havent begun prepping, just trying to learn the basics here. (I have no money at the moment either.) Also, watching some of your other videos I wondered, what? about soy sauce and other flavoring sauces? I know plain old rice will get old quick, for me salt would work. I know how to make/get salt if I didnt stockpile it. Pretty simple.

    (Im a single mom so I am very concerned about whats coming) so my daughter whose 11 and I did the same thing your doing..only we did it for 4 wks..just to find holes in my system..I have a lot of work to do..but I found out we can do anything we want to if we put our heads together..we lived on our? food storage and our water storage..wasnt cake..but we made it.

    I see your point. That is why I mentioned susistance homesteading like the pioneers did. People who will survive these types of scenarios are those that are multifacited. I discourage rice because it can not be propogated in its commercial state. A single dried green been can produce 4 to 8? plants that will give you more green bean than you care for. Every “eye” on a potato can grow a plant. Salt and sugar are stockpile items most do not stockpile

    I mentioned 6mo. because I grow a lot of my own produce. I have been growing produce for many years. I have enough experience? that I always have a good crop. Not only that, I have waterfront property. I catch all the flounders I can eat. I don’t even need bait, I gig flounders at night. If you can’t grow some food, no amount of canned goods is going to make any difference.

    If the crap? hit the fan in October, your six month scenerio is out the window. The whole object of prepping is to delay the “inevitable” as long as possible. That term is also defeatest in nature. If you can eventually turn into a susbistance homesteader you will be set for the long haul. It may take a couple years for POST SHTF fallout to settle down and society with some sort of ROL regains a foothold and guarded peace takes hold.

    Long term? effects of malnutrition are different than short term. You can starve short term and come back. Long term it starts causing irreversible heart, kidney, brain damage.

    I realize everyone will be different, but on average, how much storage space would you reserve per year per person? I plan to “eat what I store, store what I eat” and rotate foods like canned veggies, fruits, soups, beans, tuna, meals-in-a-can (like spaghetti-O’s), dry? pastas and rice, ramen and tea/drink mix.

    i sucessfully went on a shelled, roasted sunflower and sweeet tea diet for two weeks. That is the protien that we need. the seeds are our main food source in our storage. STAR products are 1 dollar at our price chopper. They taste great and fill you up. We also have rice and 89cent bags of stuffing from ALDI. They are huge! This bag feeds four of us for two days. The bigest thing is salt and pepper. Stock on that and anything tastes good, even rice, after the 100th? day.

    I actually did the same experiment about a year ago. I was able to make it with 2,000 calories without any real difficulty (but I have to admit that I didn’t do much? manual labor during that week). I think the key to success was a good variety of things to eat including some really good Mountain House freeze dried meals.

    I love this video and was sort? of thinking about the same thing at the time you posted it. How can we go from our usual diet to a long term food storage diet? What about cooking? Suppose there is no fire availability at times for different reasons? I suppose rice and beans can just sit in water and be edible after the soften. I couldn’t begin to make a loaf of bread out of stored wheat… I think I need a Prepper’s Cooking Channel!

    Ideally, a minimum? of one year of food makes much more sense. What if a crop failure occurred? As well, additional food allows you to help your neighbors or use for barter.
