Pot Roast Under Pressure: Noreen’s Kitchen

Greetings! Time got away from me this past Sunday when I wanted to make a pot roast. The answer? The pressure cooker of course! cooking the roast under pressure for about an hour and letting it stew for another 2 or 3 made a lovely pot roast that tasted just like I had cooked it all day. I use a Wolfgang Puck Electric Pressure Cooker and I love it. I highly recommend that you look into purchasing an electric model for yourself. It saves time and helps you make slow cooked style meals fast. I really love mine and use it often, but oddly, not as often as I should. You don’t have to have a pressure cooker to make a pot roast. You can make this in your crock pot, slow cooker or just in a casserole in your oven. No matter what you choose, pot roast is always a welcomed dish for dinner and makes for a happy family! I hope you give this one a try and I hope you love it! Happy Eating!

When I took out the meat and veggies, I turned the pot on to the meat setting for the default time. The pot will get hot but the timer won’t start to count down, because there is no pressure building. I begin to whisk in some Wondra flour, when the gravy begins to simmer keep stirring and then you will get the consistency you want. Don’t add wondra if the liquid is boiling or you will get lumps. Taste for seasoning and viola’! Gravy from the pot? liquors. Hope that helps. Noreen : )

I have the Cooks Essential electric pressure cooker and I absolutely love it. It makes the best chopped steak and gravy. I like to brown steak first. I roll in flour (you wouldn’t have to use flour)? brown both sides and put in pot add a can of cream of mushroom soup mixed with a can of water, Set digital control for 35 minutes (30 minutes would be ok but my 91 year old mother loves it so we do 35 minutes for her) Just use your own judgment on time.
The gravy over mashed potatoes is awesome.
